Boosting a Fitness Club’s Bounce Back

The Brief

The Manchester Athletic Club has a facility that includes year-round tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools and an outstanding youth tennis program.

However, after buying the Manchester Athletic Club, the new owners realized they needed to salvage the club’s online presence. The old site had convoluted navigation and content that was outdated and hard to read on a phone.

They decided to rebrand the club as MAC by-the-Sea to reinforce its location in Manchester-by-the-Sea and create a new website to showcase its new programs.

The Process

The project began by looking at several sites that the client wanted to emulate. They wanted a clean minimalist design with a palette that reflected the blues in their new logo.

One major task was organizing the club’s fitness classes so they would be easier to find. This was done by creating a class gallery that could be filtered by clicking on keywords that categorized the classes being offered.

The Outcome

When the new site was launched, members and prospective members found it much easier to navigate to find the information they were looking for. With the switch from a Squarespace site to a WordPress one, the marketing department had a much easier time updating and maintaining content.
